To apply for the Work-Based Learning program, students must meet several requirements. Please review the requirements and follow the chart below to see if Work-Based Learning is right for you. Applications are always accepted. Contact your regional WBL coordinator for more information and for specific due dates.


Work-Based Learning Requirements

  • Be in good academic standing and on track to graduate – C grade point average or higher
  • Maintain good attendance record – No ISS/OSS the year prior to applying
  • Maintain clean disciplinary record – No more than 5 full day unexcused absences the semester prior to applying
  • Must be a junior or senior
  • Identified career goal
  • Must be at least 16 years old
  • Must have a valid picture ID
  • Secure work permit if under age 18
  • Be willing to take high school and technical/college courses related to future employment within the identified career area
  • Provide your own dependable transportation to/from job site
  • Submit at least two teachers’ names and contact information as references
  • Willing to submit to all health related screenings required by the sponsoring employer
