THINC Healthcare Program Receives State Certification

April 22, 2019

Recently, THINC College & Career Academy celebrated their
healthcare program as they officially received word that it is now industry certified. The official process for THINC’S Healthcare Program industry certification began in September 2018 but officials say that work has been completed since the inception of the program that contributed to
the endorsement.
In qualifying, there were six program operational standards that the program had to meet that
included:
 Program Goals and Objectives
 Teacher Qualifications
 Facilities
 Equipment & Supplies
 Advisory Committee
 Program of Study

Instructors Jayne G. Pauley, MS, RN and Sharell M. Lewis, MS, LAT, ATC had to identify three standards from the courses and submit a lesson plan, student artifacts, and an evaluation instrument aligned with the identified standards. They said the certification can provide better opportunities for students when they begin a career in the healthcare field.

As far as the future of the program now that the state has recognized and validated the
standards of excellence, Pauley said, “We hope to see additional opportunities for certification
into entry level healthcare careers like Emergency Services and Pharmacy Tech. We are also
looking at helping interested students become CPR instructor-certified through the American
Heart Association. This will open doors for them as they continue in healthcare.”
